This project on Pedestrian Head Impact simulation was a part of the CAE master’s certification at Skill-Lync. Part of the focus was to understand a simple explicit analysis setup for vehicle safety engineering. In this sample, a child head foam model was used. For the impact of this head foam on a car bonnet, a piecewise linear plasticity material model was considered for the bonnet, whereas the head foam model has different parts modeled with different materials. The skull, backplate, and accelerator block have been modeled with a rigid material and the skin was modeled with rubber (MAT_77 ODGEN). This case was finally used to study the injury caused to the head by calculating Head Injury Coefficient (HIC).
